MADISON, Wisconsin (WMTV) – A Madison nonprofit connects the community with Black-owned businesses.

As part of the annual “Summer Kick Back,” Urban Triage took the theme to Penn Park with a free event for all.

There were dress-up contests, but also food and drink.

The nonprofit primarily serves the black community and as one organizer said, it created a space for black business owners to be salespeople.

“It is important that we are there for each other. Whether it’s supporting small businesses or giving food away and just being together, we’ve often missed that. And I think today is exactly what we needed after this crazy pandemic,” said Ciara Hart.

This year’s theme was a battle of the decades: 90s versus 2000s. The best dressed took home a prize.
