Attorney General Ken Paxton has secured a temporary restraining order against a Houston business selling bogus forklift training services. The court ordered an injunction against Southwest Forklift LLC’s deceptive business practices, and froze its assets up to $350,000.
The operators, Sergio Hernandez and Roxanne Rodriguez, reportedly offered one-day training for $80 to become qualified as “OSHA-certified” forklift operators. They also guaranteed employment upon completion. But consumer complaints and evidence revealed that they were posing as potential employers and posting fake job opportunities to get consumers to buy the company’s training.
