The 32nd annual Red Robin PA Sprint car racing week concluded on Sunday night in Selinsgrove. It was a very successful week for the players and fans in the area.

84 different drivers competed in this year’s Speedweek over 10 days. Nine of the 10 races have been completed, and Sunday’s first show at the BAPS Motor Speedway was the only race to fall victim to the rain.

A total of 11 drivers competed in all nine races. This year’s Speedweek drivers have come from three countries and 11 states to take part in at least some of the shows. This year’s drivers were between the ages of 15 and 63.

At one point in the week, the fields included Australian, Eddie Lumbar, who had come from New South Wales to fill one of his items on his wish-list. The Lumbar is a racing veteran who, at 63, was the oldest driver to compete in a week. He attended the first seven shows before a broken oil pump completed him the week before.

Canadian during part of the week was Skylar Gee who set a quick time on Monday’s Lincoln show but didn’t stay the entire week.

The 15-year-old rider was Ryan Timms from Oklahoma, who was not allowed to participate in some races due to age restrictions of insurance companies. Timms walked away with the best ninth finish in the series’ final race at Selinsgrove.

The fields included two current and one former NASCAR Cup series drivers. Defending Cup champions Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell competed at the shows in the middle of the week, with Larson finishing two second places and Bell finishing in the top five.

The former Cup driver who competed in the competition also holds the World of Outlaws and All Star titles on sprint cars. It would be Dave Blaney who performed twice a week. Blaney is obviously the father of current Cup driver Ryan Blaney.

Justin Peck, who finished the week in second place for Speedweek points, is a regular all-star player who recently won the Ohio Speedweek crown. Western PA Speedweek champ A J Flick also participated in PA Speedweek.

The only thing neither of these drivers did was win this year’s PA Speedweek. Anthony Macri of Dillsburg won the first two races, California’s Rico Abreu won the show midweek at Grandview and former PA Speedweek champion Danny Dietrich won the last race of the week at Selinsgrove.

Brent Marks won the remaining five races. In fact, Marx created the unusual Speedweek. He was on the podium in all nine races. In addition to the five victories, Marx had two seconds and two-thirds.

As a Speedweek champion, Marx made $ 6,000. He also won a Selinsgrove Motors bonus of $ 5,000 for finishing in the top ten in all races. At Selinsgrove he took the $ 500 Lelands.com Knock Out bonus for winning the race from fourth place. Add to that the Fast Time award tonight and all of his racing bags, and Marks will earn nearly $ 70,000 for a week.

Marx’s five wins a week equal Stevie Smith’s 2015 Speedweek record. His four wins at the end of the week in a row set a new Speedweek record.
