DAMARISCOTTA – River Arts plans to host an opening reception for the Elaine Abel and Elizabeth Palmer gallery exhibit from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 13 at the gallery on Elm St. 36. Their show “Realism, two views” is at the River Room gallery from 11 to 31. in August.

This collaboration showcases their unique vision for extraordinary depictions of ordinary objects. Realism is their goal, and they achieve it very differently. The show is lively, full of color and enjoyment.

Palmer is a lifelong student of art, beginning at age 5 and continuing through the years at the Rochester Art Museum, Colby College, and the University of New Hampshire. He has received numerous awards and accolades, most recently receiving an award at Manhattan Arts International’s “The Healing Power of Color” exhibition.

Palmer enjoys both still life and landscape painting. He tries to use color and light to make his paintings vibrate and dance. In the process, Palmer seeks to elevate ordinary objects into the realm of the extraordinary.

Abel gathers inspiration from familiar objects around him. A cracked egg on the breakfast table or a pair of blue jeans hanging from a hook – all become exciting subjects that beg to be painted. He likes to study the subject, paint it in different settings and find new ways to present its beauty.

Abel has collectors all over the US and recently in Europe. In 2019, Abel was accepted into the International Realism Guild. This exhibition illustrates his work and familiarity.

The gallery’s opening hours are 10:00-16:00. from Tuesday to Saturday.
