EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video’s The Wilds will not return for a third season. I heard that the cast and crew of YA’s survival drama have just been notified of the decision, which comes nearly three months after Season 2’s release on May 6.

The Wilds, one of the latest shows developed and produced by the late Jamie Tarses, was a major series for Prime Video and Amazon Studios. It was part of the first batch of YA pilots ordered by Amazon Studios right after Jennifer Salke took over as part of an expansion in that arena. It was the first YA series to premiere on Prime Video and the first to go to a second season.

Prime Video remains committed to young adult content with a roster that includes recent hits The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Invincible, and the upcoming Shelter series, based on the first novel in the bestselling author’s Mickey Bolitar trilogy. Harlan Coben.

The Wilds caused quite a stir when it launched on December 11, 2020, earning a quick renewal. The reaction to the teenage drama has been more subdued since his return last May.

The second season of The Wilds continues to follow the heartbreaking ordeal of eight teenage girls stranded on a desert island under mysterious circumstances. The new season also focuses on a new group of survivors, all kids, who find themselves in the same dangerous situation. Both groups are forced to overcome emotional and physical obstacles in the face of their extreme circumstances.

The cast of the series includes Rachel Griffiths, David Sullivan, Troy Winbush, Sophia Ali, Sarah Pidgeon, Jenna Clause, Erana James, Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Reign Edwards and Shannon Berry. Zack Calderon, Aidan Laprete, Nicholas Coombe, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Reed Shannon, Tanner Ray Rook and Alex Fitzalan joined as the second group of season two survivors.

The Wilds was created by Sarah Streicher, executive producer alongside showrunner Amy Harris, the late Tarses of Fanfare and Dylan Clark for Dylan Clark Productions. The series was co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
