Good news for those who subscribe to Amazon Prime Video comes courtesy of the fact that Watch Party, the feature that allows subscribers to watch content with a select group of their friends or family, is now available on all devices that support the Prime Video app. .
Amazon Prime Video is one of the best streaming services on the market, so the addition of this functionality upgrade will help take its offering up to more people. So, what has changed?
As reported by TechRadar (opens in a new tab), Watch Party was previously available as a feature on the Amazon Prime Video iOS and Android apps, as well as its computer desktop application. However, this new upgrade means that the feature will be available on everything from the best 4K TVs to the best Amazon Fire TV Sticks and into the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
This will no doubt be welcome news to the millions of Prime Video subscribers who once liked the idea of using Watch Party, but were put off by it on the small screen.
I personally watch the majority of Amazon Prime Video content on my 55-inch LG C1 OLED TV, and if I were to host a long-term viewing experience with Watch Party on the TV I would love to do so. . This new event shows that it is now happening.
Watch Party is increasingly important
I really think these local watch jobs are becoming more and more important for subscribers, since the current cost of living crisis means that going to the cinema for many is becoming a rare treat, rather than a weekly event.

Disney+ also has this community viewing feature, called GroupWatch, and for me I just feel any streaming service that wants to be taken seriously should have something similar.
The age of streaming and content has been great for choice, but not so much for community viewing events, as people watch the latest episode of TV shows or movies whenever they want, not when it’s broadcast, like in. the old days of cable TV.
So by adding in these features the advertiser can renew that there is a subscriber, with groups of friends, say, agreeing to all watch the next episode of The Boys Season 3 at the same time to make an activity out of it.
And, with competition between streaming services increasing now, any additional cable in the bow will be important to retain and gain subscribers.
