This is the 51st year for the Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival. Artists from a variety of mediums are taking over Columbus Circle this weekend. From textiles to ceramics and wood, lots of art will be for sale.

“It’s actually the second largest festival after the Taste of Syracuse, and what we love about this event is that it’s so family-friendly,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Syracuse Committee. “And so not only can you come downtown and explore all the different arts and crafts, you’ve got the festival food, you’ve got the lively atmosphere.”

There are 130 artists setting up shop in Columbus Circle this year, about half of whom come from New York. Many artists come from all over the country. Their work will be judged by their peers and they are all invited to participate.

Art will not be the only thing at this weekend’s festival. You can also hear strolling musicians and see Syracuse City Ballet dancers.

“We have a variety of food vendors, so traditional festival food, but also like Mediterranean food and wraps, sweet treats, but then also some family-friendly activities and demonstrations that will happen throughout the weekend,” Treier said.

The three-day event will span every street branching off Columbus Circle. The arts and crafts festival runs on Friday from 10.00-18.00, and Saturday/Sunday from 10.00-17.00.

Not too far away, a couple of other festivals happening this weekend.

The first annual Stay Fresh Chalk Jam will be on Montgomery Street, Saturday from 9am-3pm. near the town hall. The Northeast Wine and Jazz Festival hosted by CNY Jazz returns to Clinton Square on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at
