LAKE ODESSA — An annual event that features local art and music returns to a park in Lake Odessa.
Art in the Park in Lake Odessa takes place Saturday, Aug. 6, at Village Park, according to a press release. This year is the 47th for the event, which allows the public to view and purchase arts and crafts from local and regional artists and artisans.
The Lake Odessa Area Arts Commission is hosting the event, which organizers say is attended by more than 5,000 people. There will be over 70 artists and crafters with items on display and available for purchase. Art available includes jewelry, pebble art, painting, home decor, folk art and clothing.
The event’s entertainment lineup, according to the release, is as follows:
The Children’s Zone is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the release. In addition to activities, kids can make and take craft projects and balloon animals.
Adults can enjoy the Art of the Vine wine tasting, which is back for its second year. Michigan winemakers will provide a variety of wines that can be sampled. There will be a limited number of commemorative glasses available for guests, according to the release. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the wine tasting venue, which is open from noon to 4 p.m. Guests must be 21 or older.
“In 2021 we just decided that we would try something new as a way to celebrate this opportunity to come together again after COVID,” stated Meg Hermes, chair of the Arts Commission.
The food lineup includes: Maria’s Tacos, Dog Central, Michigan Farm House Pizza, Underground Cookie Club, Alexis’ Sugar Coated Bakery, Elephant Ears & Funnel Cakes and Sugar Buzz Home Bakery.
Grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs, local businesses and community organizations supported this year’s Art in the Park — according to the release.
“These businesses and organizations are committing their precious resources to support the quality of life we enjoy here in the Lake Odessa region,” Hermes said. “We are grateful for the strong support we receive that allows us to continue this cherished annual tradition.”
