Local Young Artists Will Attend the Famous Interlochen Art Camp

Tanner Goulet will join artistic students across disciplines from around the world and celebrated guest artists at Interlochen’s amazing northern Michigan campus.

INTERLOCHEN, Mich. (July 2022) Tanner Goulet, 17, of Vero Beach has been accepted and will attend Interlochen Arts Camp, the nation’s premier multidisciplinary summer art program for artists whose ambitions are grades 3 through 12. Goulet, son of Jacques and Tricia Goulet will study Improvisation Jazz by Interlochen.

Tanner, a senior rose at Indian River Charter High School and a 4 -year member and leading Saxophonist of the exclusive Wolves Jazz band. An Eagle Scout and President of the National Honor Society currently in the school chapter, he is very involved in his community. Tanner is a 6 -year member and saxophone section leader of the 20th street jazz band. He has participated in many band competitions across the country and solo and ensemble also participated in 4 county honor/jazz band festivals. He is an active member of the Florida Symphonic Youth Orchestra Jazz ensemble, in Orlando. He can also be seen playing with the Fort Pier Jazz and Blues community, many local Treasure Coast musicians and with his Jazz/Funk band On The One.

Artistic students ages 8-18 from around the world gather at Interlochen to expand their capacity in music, theater, dance, creative writing, visual arts, and film. Through daily classes, enriching electives, and frequent performances, Interlochen students explore a vast expanse full of art, pursue creative breakthroughs, and forge cross-cultural friendships throughout life. Entering a multidisciplinary artistic environment, young creatives find reflection, rejuvenation, and inspiration on the 1,200-acre Interlochen forest campus.

“We are excited to celebrate the start of the 95th season of Interlochen Arts Camp,” said Trey Devey, President of the Interlochen Center for the Arts. “It’s scary to witness the incredible growth that is happening at Interlochen when students discover their potential and take their talents to the next level.”

With a global alumni base that includes creative leaders in the arts and many other fields, Interlochen Arts Camp has been at the forefront of arts education for nearly a century. Among the notable Camp alumni are Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Rufus Wainwright, Jessye Norman, Loren Maazel, actor Anthony Rapp, cartoonist Cathy Guisewite, and many more. Approximately ten percent of the nation’s professional orchestral musicians have roots in Interlochen and the alumni community has been awarded nearly 100 Grammy Awards.

In addition to hundreds of performances, presentations, and readings by young artists, Interlochen brings leading artists to its northern Michigan campus. In recent years, guest artists include Joshua Bell, Diana Ross, Wynton Marsalis, Yo-Yo Ma, Lady Antebellum, Harry Connick Jr., and many more.
