GREEN BAY – Calling all gamers – a new business catering to all gaming lovers out there is set to open this week in the former Green Bay Press Gazette distribution building at the corner of Walnut Street and Monroe Avenue in downtown Green Bay.
The goal of Rogue Games is to attract people who not only want to buy, but also play card, board and video games in both social and tournament settings.
“A big part of our mission is to give back to the community as much as we can and hopefully bring a lot of people to the downtown Green Bay area,” said George Lepek, owner of Rogue Games.
It’s also a great place to learn a new game.
By welcoming all levels of players – from beginner to casual to veteran – Lepak hopes to create an environment where players can not only pick up a new game, but also sit down and play, trade and have real conversations about the games they love .
Lepek said the location is key since there are a few similar businesses around the Green Bay area, but almost all of them are located on the west side of the river.
The former Green Bay Press Gazette distribution building is the perfect location as it is located in a central downtown area on the east side of the Fox River and is spacious enough to host large tournaments and events.
These events can be trading card games, board games or even video games with different prizes to be won and entered.
The building will be jointly occupied by Rogue Games and Allouez Rare Coin – both of which are owned by Lepek and were previously located on Webster Avenue in Allouez.
“We’ve loved seeing Rogue Games move into a new space downtown,” said Jeff Mirkes, CEO of Downtown Green Bay, Inc. and Olde Main Street, Inc. “The former Press Gazette distribution building at Walnut and Monroe is a high-traffic part of downtown, perfect for this unique retailer looking to expand space and service. This business will bring a loyal customer base to the downtown district as well as offer our residents and visitors new gaming experiences.”
Lepek said there will be a grand opening celebration with the date yet to be determined.
Opening hours will be 10am to 8pm. Sunday to Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday.
