Ghost Recon Frontline was a battle royale game where groups of 4 teamed up with over 100 players on a large map.
An 8-minute trailer released last October showed players collecting loot and completing missions. On the same subject : Small businesses are on the rise: ghost cooking, plant delivery, handmade jewelry, and more.
The game’s announcement was met with significant backlash, causing Ubisoft to delay and eventually cancel the planned playtest.
The game’s trailer on YouTube garnered 4.8k likes compared to 17k dislikes within days, with comments showing a mixture of disappointment and confusion about the series’ direction.
The top comment, left by the username “Damon,” accuses Ubisoft of “ignoring” its fanbase with Frontline’s new direction.
That comment alone has almost as many likes as the trailer itself. If you search for “Ghost Recon Frontline” on YouTube, there are several videos criticizing the title below the trailer, with YouTuber BigfryTV’s video title asking “Is this a joke?”
Little was known about Splinter Cell VR beyond CEO Yves Guilmont’s brief: “Splinter Cell offers a new kind of experience, but more on different devices, so today we’re working a little, a lot on that brand to come back at some point,” he said.
The game was designed in collaboration with Meta and would have been exclusive to Meta headsets.
