To identify the top 100 companies in the Newsweek area, the companies were evaluated and scored as follows: 35 percent of the first score is based on employee survey responses; 25 percent was derived from external evaluations of public ratings from sites such as Comparable, Careerbliss, Glassdoor, Truth and Google; and 40 percent came from direct interviews and written responses from company executives. Newsweek then did some research into each company on the list, as well as the top runners, to determine the final list of 100 companies and their ranking. (This list includes all U.S. firms and companies with a strong U.S. presence located overseas.)
