On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate Prime Minister Kadhimi and the Iraqi people on their National Day, October 3.

Today is a day to reflect on and be proud of Iraq’s achievements and the perseverance of its people. For 90 years, Iraq has struggled through adversity to foster a more inclusive and equitable society for its citizens and for future generations of Iraqis.

The United States remains strongly committed to its strategic partnership with Iraq and to deepening and strengthening our relations under the US-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement. I look forward to continuing to work together on our shared priorities and strengthening the bond between our peoples.

I wish the people of Iraq the best wishes and prosperity in the coming year.
