In this week’s episode “It’s Debatable”, Rick Rosen and Charles Moster debate whether our growing national disunity and increasing political conflict could lead to civil war. Rosen is the Glenn D. West Endowed Research Professor of Law at Texas Tech University School of Law and a retired US Army colonel. Moster is the founder of the Lubbock-based Moster Law Firm with seven offices including Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

Moster – 1 The church bells rang in the State of South Carolina after the election of Abraham Lincoln who celebrated his separation from the United States and entered a new union that would soon be named the Confederacy. This terrible war cry was repeated by a large number of other southern states who gave the great American example launched by our forefathers in a crisis of the blue. and dust and a poisonous trade that killed more than 620,000 people on both sides. another trade-off between people is indicated by the new emerging colors of conflicting political ideologies – red and blue. This announcement shows that Donald Trump and his friends are not very concerned about preserving the fundamental integrity and stability of our democratic institutions. Trump, a typical “Yankee Carpetbagger” who fooled many people in Texas including this writer mentioned years ago. I admit my error in judgment and the displeasure of many readers who consider me a bigot despite the prevalence of my other conservative views. A recent poll conducted by the University of California found that more than 50% of Americans expect a civil war to occur in the next few years. This dire statement was reiterated in a recent article published in The Atlantic – The DoomSpiral of Pernicious Polarization – which concluded that America is “more dangerously polarized than any other rich democracy” in the world. On a scale that ranges from a low of 0 to a high of 5, we all get a 3.8. . A 2016 survey found that 60% of Democrats and 63% of Republicans would oppose their children “marrying a supporter of another political party.” Such emotional feelings incomprehensible and terrifying. Former President Trump and his Machiavellian supporters including TedCruz and Texas G overnor Abbot have relentlessly attacked the very foundations of our democracy and given credence to the entire lie that Biden stole the election. This was disputed by Trump in the inner circle including his Attorney General and recently his main White House adviser Pat Cipollone who reiterated that there is no evidence that such fraud has occurred or exists . He argued that former VP Pence should receive the Medal of Freedom for standing up to these things and confirming the election of Joe Biden. Therefore, many Republicans and American critics still believe that the election was stolen as evidenced by the recent first victories of such outright fake candidates. This has caused an old cancer in our body politic which has led to the unexpected attack on the US Capitol and the planned attacks carried out and planned by Donald Trump which will, in my opinion, lead his ultimate punishment and justification for rebellion. this will prevent a new civil war that could happen as soon as Trump’s first impeachment is confirmed by a large number of judges jury trial. Believe it and prepare for the church bells to ring again in the South. It’s very scary, yes. Rosen – 1 I don’t defend President Trump first. I did not vote for Trump or his opponents in the Democratic Party. Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was stolen is baseless. However, to suggest that Trump is the only one who opened the government divide is completely false. Trump is not the first candidate to falsely claim an election victory; his opponent in 2016, Hillary Clinton, still refuses to allow his 2016 election. Even more insulting, his campaign was banned sending a complete hoax that Trump colluded with Russia to win the election. Using a fake account, the ad prompted FBI and Justice Department investigations of Trump, which undoubtedly damaged his presidency. This is the stuff of the “banana republic” (and I don’t mean the appa rel store).I agree that there are serious problems in the fabric of American society. On January 6, 2021, the riots at the Capitol were intolerable and criminal, but before the event, Americans witnessed cities destroyed by violent riots; an alarming rise in violent crime as blue-collar cities cut their police force and their prosecutors refuse to prosecute and incarcerate the criminals responsible; a complete breakdown of the defenses in the south; and a government disgraced by an incomplete plan and implementation of the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Divisive Trump is certainly an important factor, but the current administration seems to have failed to fulfill its promise to unite the American people. Instead, the Administration has tried to punish those who oppose the ideas, because the parents opposed to the school meetings were caught when the Attorney General called them terrorists in the country. But this situation has been successful for many years, especially in some of the country’s leading colleges and universities. For example, several months ago the medical students of the University of Michigan walked out of their “White Coat Ceremony” because the special speaker was pro-life, although not the topic. this is his speech. Many readers may not know that Charles is not only a great lawyer but also a brilliant writer on subjects ranging from time, to history, to space exploration. Despite his great ability in many schools, Charles will be rejected from many schools because he is the ol but regardless of the subject of his speech. And I highly doubt that they will avoid him as a Trump supporter.

Moster – 2 I have never been a supporter of Hillary Clinton and I agree with Rick that she made the wrong political statement. However, his speech was not intended to incite a riot and bring down the government. Trump’s crime is more than vitriol and is on par with the worst acts ever committed against the United States. Certainly, there is nothing similar today. There are only two events in American history that stand out – Shay’s Rebellion in 1786 – the armed insurrection against the newly formed government, and the terrible attack on Harper’s Ferry by the abolitionist John Brown in 1859. As the revolution continues to develop, I predict that Trump’s actions to destroy the government will be judged in the same terrible light. Apart from the massive political instability that Trump and his millions of supporters have provoked, other factors may trigger a new war. I have written a lot about the coming financial crisis that will trigger an unprecedented hyperinflation in the United States like the collapse of the German economy immediately after WW- When it took millions of “Marks” to buy a loaf of bread. It doesn’t take a Nobel Laureate to establish that our great country is broke. You can add to that domestic violence, urban chaos, and the widening gap between the rich and the poor. It’s an important thing to ignore. not many observers will be the negative impact of technology and automation on the American workforce.

The new advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics, in my opinion, will change all sectors of the economy by the end of this decade including consumer services and blue-collar jobs in manufacturing and distribution. the parts.

Millions of people working in the auto industry and retail sectors including Amazon and Walmart will be laid off and will add to the growing unemployment rate. I also see the rise of “Corporate City States” – armed and self-supported / controlled by the wealthiest corporations in America, rising from the ashes supported by the workers of the country and a cryptocurrency other than the US is useless. and in the long run it will trigger a new war in America or manifest as an armed struggle between the red and blue states or an unexpected arrangement. What will emerge from this conflict cannot be predicted, however, our great example of Democracy as envisioned and promoted by the Founding Fathers will be destroyed.

Rosen – 2First, the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by washeinous Trump supporters. It is an attack on our democracy; an attempt to prevent Congress from fulfilling its constitutional duty. Those involved must face justice. Then- PresidentTrump should have immediately urged his supporters to stop the violence. However, unlike Shay’s Rebellion and the attack on Harper’s Ferry, January 6 was not an armed attack. Few if any of the rioters have weapons—especially guns. And the only people who died that day were those who attacked the Capitol. Second, January 6 is definitely divisive. Nancy Pelosi and the HouseDemocrats were able to use their January 6 campaign to inform and unite the American people by making two real announcements about the events of that day. Pelosi didn’t want the split—she wanted Trump. Abandoning the former, he rejected the representatives chosen by Republican House leaders and appointed only Republicans to oppose Trump. The Watergatecommittees should have served as an example. If the evidence of Trump’s intervention is confirmed, Pelosi has nothing to fear from a two-way fact-finding process in which the evidence is examined and the Republican representatives call for relevant evidence. Instead, we found a text, clearly showing the “artistic presentation,” which I suspect many saw as nothing more than political cinema. In fact, a recent Monmouth University study shows that lawsuits have no effect on public opinion. In fact, fewer Americans now believe that Trump was responsible for the violence on January 6 than when the trial began. Third, Hillary Clinton did more than just create a false narrative. ZERO his campaign made a statement in order to trigger a federal investigation of Trump’s campaign and undermine his presidency. To their lasting shame, the Department of Justice and the FBI took the bait, spent two years chasing Trump, and in the end, there was no evidence of Russian collusion. When our country’s law enforcement agency becomes the “Praetorian Guard” for one political party, our democracy will cease to exist. Later, Charles developed some provocative ideas about other possible causes of a “new” war. It is not related to the current debate, and I will not argue his points. Yes, I agree that hyper-inflation is a phenomenon – it is caused by the current administration. I hope the future isn’t as bad as Charles makes it out to be.
