But in order for an individual to visit or even move to the US, they will need to obtain a valid visa or green card. To get it, there are several ways to get temporary residency and eventually become a permanent resident.
The first type of status is as a citizen and there are three ways you can become a citizen. The first was to be born a citizen of the United States, and the second was to have at least one parent who had American citizenship. The last way is to go through the naturalization process. If you were born in another country, but one of your parents is a citizen, then you automatically have US citizenship. The naturalization process is achieved by a person if he has been a permanent, permanent resident of the USA for at least 5 years.
