On behalf of the Government and the People of the United States, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Jamaicans on the successful six decades of independence. Since 1962, our two countries have stood side by side, strengthening regional security, fostering people-to-people bonds and facilitating free trade.
The interweaving history of our nations and the importance Jamaican-Americans play in our national history only brings our countries closer. The Jamaican Diaspora in the United States has made a huge contribution to America’s success and prosperity, rising to the highest levels of business, science, sports, film, music, and government.
We congratulate you on this important milestone and look forward to expanding our indissoluble partnership in the decades to come.
