The United States strongly condemns the multiple armed attacks on the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) in the past two days. On July 22, the FAMa repelled an attack on a military installation in Kati, just outside Bamako. Coordinated terrorist attacks against targets in Douentza, Koro, Thy, Bapho, Segou and Kolokani occurred or were attempted on 21 July. Violent extremist organizations continue to target the FAMa as a means of further destabilizing the Malian state. The United States denounces such actions and continues to work with our Malian partners in every possible way to restore peace and stability for the Malian people.

We regret the loss of life suffered by the FAMa and extend our condolences to their families. We wish the wounded a speedy and complete recovery.
