On July 14, 2022, we, the Heads of Government of India, Israel, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States, gathered for the first meeting of the leaders of the “I2U2” Group. This unique grouping of countries aims to harness the liveliness of our societies and the entrepreneurial spirit to address some of the greatest challenges facing our world, with a focus on joint investments and new initiatives in the fields of water, energy, transport, space, health and food safety. We intend to mobilize private sector capital and expertise to modernize infrastructure, promote low-carbon development pathways for our industries, improve public health and access to vaccines, advance physical connectivity between countries in the Middle region East, jointly create new waste treatment solutions, explore joint financing opportunities, connect our startups to I2U2 investments and promote the development of emerging and green critical technologies, all while ensuring short and long-term food and energy security. We reaffirm our support for the Abraham Agreements and other peace and normalization agreements with Israel. We welcome the economic opportunities that arise from these historic developments, including for the advancement of economic cooperation in the Middle East and South Asia, and in particular for the promotion of sustainable investments between I2U2 partners. We also welcome other new groupings of countries, such as the Negev Forum for Regional Cooperation, which recognize each partner country’s unique contributions, including Israel’s ability to serve as an innovation hub, connecting new partners and hemispheres to address strategically challenges too great for any country to handle alone. Today’s inaugural meeting of I2U2 leaders focused on the sic crisis food safety and clean energy. Leaders discussed innovative ways to ensure more diverse, long-term food production and better food delivery systems to manage global food shocks. To this end, the top management of I2U2 highlighted the following initiatives:

Leaders have expressed their determination to leverage established markets to build more innovative, inclusive and science-based solutions to improve food security and sustainable food systems. Leaders also welcomed India’s interest in joining the United States, UAE and Israel in the Mission for Agricultural Innovation for Climate (AIM for Climate) initiative. They said these are just the first steps in a long-term strategic partnership to promote initiatives and investments that improve the movement of people and goods across the hemispheres and increase sustainability and resilience through scientific and technological collaborations.
