The author of a multi-site Iowa travel book will visit Fort Dodge Tuesday.

Sara Broers, author of “100 Things To Do In Iowa Before You Die,” will sign books and discuss her favorite hiking spots from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Dodge Public Library and City Square.

The book features Gaga and Hoo Korean Restaurant, the Lizard Creek mountain bike trail, Gypsum City OHV Park and the Fort Dodge grain silo mural.

Also included in the various listings in the book are Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, the Dariette, Community Orchards, Lizard Creek waterways, and Amigo’s. The book contains several photographs of the area, including the main title page photograph showing the author and others in front of a grain silo mural.

“We are thrilled that Sara has chosen to highlight some of our region’s attractions and businesses,” said Kerrie Kuiper, executive director of the Fort Dodge Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We continue to see more people coming to Fort Dodge and being surprised by the amount and quality of things to do in our region.”

Broers participated in a field trip organized by the Convention and Visitors Bureau in June 2021.

During the visit, office staff and volunteers took the writers on trips like biking, fishing, riding OHVs, kayaking and hiking. They also went to restaurants and looked at other places in the area.

Copies of “100 Things to Do in Iowa Before You Die” are available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 24 N. Ninth St., for $19.95. They will also be at the book signing event on Tuesday.
