Week 16 of the NFL season continues Saturday with an action-packed slate, and we’ve got you covered with all the must-see moments from around the league. As the playoff race continues to heat up, so does the winter weather, with cold temperatures and gusty winds already proving to have a big impact on the Christmas Eve schedule.
Eight of the 11 games in the opening window had temperatures below freezing — many in the single digits — and two of the three afternoon games had temperatures near or well below freezing, according to FOX Sports Research and FOX Weather.
Here are the top plays on Saturday’s slate!
Las Vegas Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers
Las Vegas opened the game with a 14-play touchdown drive that took more than eight minutes. Derek Carr hit wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, made moves through the Pittsburgh defense and found a way for a 14-yard score.
Before the break, both teams put a field goal on the board. Las Vegas leads 10-3 at halftime.
The Steelers’ defense started to light things up early in the third, picking off Carr.
Even though Pittsburgh couldn’t capitalize on the first turnover of the quarter, it gave them another chance late in the frame!
The big man in the Steelers backfield stood up in this one.
Pittsburgh went on a 10-play, 76-yard drive to take the lead with 46 seconds left!
And with that drive, the Steelers won 13-10 against Las Vegas.
Dallas Cowboys 40, Philadelphia Eagles 34
Josh Sweat made a huge interception that Dak Prescott stripped and drove 42 yards to give Philly an early 10-0 run.
The Cowboys then closed the gap slightly, 10-7, on a short scamper by Ezekiel Elliott.
Gardner Minshew’s pass to Quez Watkins was snidely intercepted by Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse, quickly giving the ball back to Dallas.
The turnover and corner coverage by the Eagles defense gave Dallas its first lead of the game, 14-10, early in the second quarter following a 36-yard touchdown run by CeeDee Lamb to Prescott.
The Eagles regained the lead, 17-14, after Minshew took over midway through the second quarter. Both teams traded field goals before halftime to keep it a three-point game, 20-17, with Philly in the lead.
The Eagles started to pull away in the third quarter after a wide receiver DeVonta Smith’s touchdown made it a 10-point game, 27-17, early in the frame.
Dallas had other plans, however. A field goal and a Michael Gallup touchdown knotted things up again heading into the fourth quarter.
The Eagles answered with Smith’s second touchdown of the night, putting Philly ahead 34-27 in the fourth quarter. That marked the 36th straight red-zone score for the Eagles, good for the longest streak in the NFL.
On the ensuing possession, the Dallas offense wasted no time charging down the field, T.Y. Hilton.
The Cowboys stormed back with another touchdown run by Prescott-Lamb to even things up again. Dallas then added two field goals, the second of which came after a costly Eagles fumble with less than two minutes remaining, to seal the win.
San Francisco 49ers 37, Washington Commanders 20
It was the 49ers who got on the board as Ray-Ray McCloud III ran 71 yards for the lead.
Brock Purdy was picked off in the San Francisco field as Jauan Jennings threw the ball and it landed in the hands of Commanders safety Darrick Forrest.
The turnover led to Washington’s score, as rookie Jahan Dotson scored one to knot things up heading into halftime.
The Niners opened the second half with a huge 34-yard touchdown run by George Kittle. The four-time Pro Bowl tight end added another score two drives later as San Francisco built a 21-7 lead late in the third quarter.
Taylor Heinicke connected with Terry McLaurin, who somehow managed to hold the ball with defenders on each shoulder, for a 51-yard touchdown to send the Commanders deep into Niners territory.
Two plays later, McLaurin finished the job, scoring on a short pass from Heinicke.
After the Niners scored three goals in the fourth quarter to extend their lead, 30-14, the Commanders inserted Carson Wentz into the game in place of Heinicke, and the veteran signal-caller scored a touchdown before ending things.
Houston Texans 19, Tennessee Titans 14
Derrick Henry had a monster touchdown run to put the Titans on the board early against the Texans.
Houston tied things up late in the first quarter on a Davis Mills touchdown run by Rex Burkhead.
Rookie QB Malik Willis caught his first NFL touchdown on a 14-yard run midway through the third quarter to give Tennessee a 14-10 lead.
Mills hit Brandin Cooks late in the fourth quarter, and the veteran receiver came up big for the Texans, booting a 6-yard score that Houston held on to for a 19-14 lead.
It was just the Texans’ second win of the season, ending a nine-game losing streak.
Cincinnati Bengals 22, New England Patriots 18
The Joe Burrow-Tee Higgins connection was hot despite the freezing weather, leading to a smooth first quarter score.
The Bengals added six more points when Burrow threw a wideout to Trent Irwin while under pressure as he struggled against the Patriots defenders.
Irwin added another score late in the second quarter to extend the Bengals’ lead to 22-0 at halftime.
On third-and-29, Mac Jones sent a Hail Mary into the end zone that somehow landed in the hands of Jakobi Meyers for a touchdown. As it was, the Patriots scored 18 unanswered points after falling into a 22-0 hole in the first half.
After each team drove on consecutive drives, the Patriots ended up with the ball with less than a minute left. They had to punt, however, and couldn’t pull off a comeback.
Minnesota Vikings 27, New York Giants 24
With a 25-yard reception in the first quarter, Justin Jefferson (1,661 yards) set a new Vikings single-season rushing record, breaking Randy Moss’ 2003 record (1,623) after coming up short last season (1,616).
Then, with the momentum going, the Vikings got on the board first when T.J. Hockenson.
After the Giants cut the lead to 10-7, Daniel Jones found Isaiah Hodgins for a dazzling 29-yard gain that lifted the N.Y. fans.
Kirk Cousins put one on Hockenson, and they didn’t stop any number of Giants defenders from scoring.
Cousins then found Jefferson for a wild 17-yard touchdown to take a 24-16 lead.
The Giants weren’t going down without a fight, responding with a score of their own on the next drive.
Saquon Barkley ran for a 27-yard touchdown, and Daniel Bellinger had a two-point conversion to knot things up at 24 as the two-minute warning approached in Minnesota.
In the end, it all came down to Greg Joseph, who booted a 61-yard field goal as the clock expired to seal the home win.
Carolina Panthers 37, Detroit Lions 23
The Panthers took the lead on the opening drive thanks to a nifty boot from Raheem Blackshear.
The Lions came back with their opening score, as Jared Goff connected with tight end Shane Zylstra.
Sam Darnold threw one to DJ Moore, who made a huge 47-yard catch for a touchdown on the next play.
As it was, Carolina had a 31-7 lead midway through the third frame and never relinquished the lead.
Buffalo Bills 35, Chicago Bears 13
Justin Fields connected with Dante Pettis on the Bears’ opening drive to give the Bills a 7-0 lead.
Gabe Davis caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to make it a one-point game, 7-6, after a strong wind missed an extra point midway through the first quarter.
Buffalo opened the scoring in the second half with Devin Singletary’s 33-yard touchdown run to take a 14-10 lead. James Cook then added a 27-yard touchdown run to extend the Bills’ lead to 21-10.
Fields hit Velus Jones Jr. for a 44-yard gain before turning the ball over early in the fourth quarter as the Bills ran away with a double-digit road win.
Kansas City Chiefs 24, Seattle Seahawks 10
After going three-and-out on the opening drive, the Chiefs rebounded in a big way on the second possession when Patrick Mahomes hit Kadarius Toney for an 8-yard touchdown to K.C. initial leadership
Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon ran into the end zone and ran through two Seahawks defenders to extend K.C.’s lead to 14-0 midway through the second quarter.
Mahomes went all-out down the stretch, diving for the pylon to put the Chiefs up 24-3 late in the fourth as the Chiefs cruised to an easy win at home.
Baltimore Ravens 17, Atlanta Falcons 9
Just as the Falcons were able to cross into the red zone, Drake London couldn’t hold on to the ball, and Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen fumbled to give Baltimore the ball back.
The turnover was a golden opportunity for Baltimore. Tyler Huntley — filling in for an injured Lamar Jackson — connected with Demarcus Robinson in the end corner for six. It was the first touchdown by a Ravens receiver since Week 3.
The Ravens held off the Falcons and came away with the home win, 17-9.
New Orleans Saints 17, Cleveland Browns 10
The Browns defense picked off Andy Dalton as the Saints crossed halffield, and the turnover led to a touchdown and a 7-0 Browns lead on the ensuing drive.
After trading field goals to close the second quarter, the Saints opened the scoring in the third quarter with Taysom Hill’s 8-yard touchdown run up the middle. With that score, Hill set a new mark for most touchdowns not rushed in Saints history.
The Saints defense made a huge interception late in the third quarter with a tipped ball. The turnover led to Alvin Kamara’s 4-yard touchdown run to give the Saints a 17-10 lead.
