Sunday marks the second sporting equinox of 2022, a day when all five of North America’s top professional men’s sports leagues (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLS) will play live regular season or playoff games.
Sporting equinoxes were quite rare, but have recently become more prevalent, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic forced each league to change their respective schedules in 2020 and 2021.
Thursday’s sporting equinox saw the Arizona Cardinals win over the New Orleans Saints in Thursday Night Football, which was joined by the Houston Astros’ victory over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, the victories in Philadelphia. Union FC and Los Angeles FC in the MLS playoffs on FOX Sports 1, the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers’ prime-time wins in the NBA and a full list of 12 NHL games.
