With my picks in the bathroom, my accessories came alive this week. I went 9-1 with my tools on Monday night at CBS Sports HQ.
Too bad my choice has gone the other way, it smells like an old cistern. I went 6-9-1 against the spread with my experts last week and 2-3 with my best bets as part of the Pick Six Podcast. I also went straight to 10-6.
That brings my season record to 33-43-4 ATS, 43-36-1 straight up and 14-13 with my Best Bets.
Don’t worry, the prop king will be rocking my picks this week. I will get back on track. I promise.
Washington Commanders (PK) at Chicago Bears
Thursday, 8:20 p.m. ET (Amazon Prime)

This is the dog game of the week. Is it really on national television? Both teams have issues, but the Bears showed some signs of life on offense last week. Even so, Washington is the best team. Look for Washington’s defense to get the most out of this one.
San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons (+5.5)

The 49ers stayed at West Virginia this week after beating Carolina on the road. That will reduce the wear and tear of travel. The Falcons came back last week against the Bucs, and once again showed a real fight. On the same subject : Fordham University Hosts Sports Career Camp for High School Students. They have done it in every game they have played and will do it again here. The Falcons hang around.
New England Patriots (+3) at Cleveland Browns

Special Games | Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots
Mac Jones has a chance to return to quarterback for the Patriots. Otherwise, it’s Bailey Zappe again. The way the Browns defense is playing, it probably won’t matter. Cleveland will once again use its passing attack to move the football, but New England’s defense is shutting down. I think the Patriots will stay close in this game – regardless of who plays quarterback.
New York Jets at Green Bay Packers (-7)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)

The Packers lost to the Giants last week in London, but going back home against the Jets is a chance to get back on track. The Jets are a surprise team, but this is a tough one. Look for Green Bay’s defense, which hasn’t played well, to do so here. The Packers win big.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+2) at Indianapolis Colts

Special Games | Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars shut out the Colts in Week 2, so they know they can stop them. But the Jaguars are coming off a bad loss to the Texans, while the Colts beat the Broncos last Thursday, so they are off. However, the Jaguars seem to have their numbers. Jacksonville wins behind their defense.
Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Miami Dolphins
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (Fox, FuboTV)
Special Games | Miami Dolphins vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Dolphins should get Teddy Bridgewater back to play quarterback against his former team. That would be a huge boost to the offense. The Vikings can be affected by the heat. But I think it will come down to Minnesota’s offense against a bad Miami defense. The Vikings won behind Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson.
Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5) at New Orleans Saints
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)
Special Games | New Orleans Saints vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have three tough plays in the final seconds and are playing in their second straight game after losing to the Ravens. The Saints won last week behind Taysom Hill, but can they count on it every week? The Saints defense has been a huge disappointment, so Joe Burrow will return to Louisiana and get a win because of it.
Baltimore Ravens at New York Giants (+5.5)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)
Special Games | New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Giants are 4-1 and this is another guaranteed game. If they can limit the Ravens and Lamar Jackson, they can win this game. It will be former Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale trying to slow him down. I think he does. The Giants will also run the ball. It’s close, but the Ravens will win late.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8) at Pittsburgh Steelers

Special Games | Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is Kenny Pickett’s home run. It’s not easy against that Tampa Bay defense. He did some good things in Buffalo, but that game ended quickly. This will not happen. The Bucs will pull late, but Pickett and the offense will be better.
Carolina Panthers at Los Angeles Rams (-10.5)

With Matt Rhule fired, Steve Wilks becomes head coach of the Panthers. Sometimes it can bring life to a team. But the Rams are just as desperate as the Panthers for a win. They are the better team, and it will show here as Matthew Stafford finally has a good day.
Arizona Cardinals (-3) at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks offense is interesting to watch because Geno Smith is off to an early start. But the defense was terrible. Arizona’s offense has had some issues this season, but this is a good place to be right. I think they will. This will be a gun. Kyler Murray will get the best of Seattle’s defense.
Buffalo Bills (-3) at Kansas City Chiefs

This is the game of the week, and maybe the year. Both teams have high-powered offenses. The shootout between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen will be interesting to watch. Will it stop? I doubt it. Hopefully this will be a classic game like their playoff game last January, where the Chiefs won in overtime. The last 13 seconds gave the Bills a chance to reach the Super Bowl. This time, they won late.
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (-5)

Special Games | Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
This is one of the best games this week. The Cowboys defense against the Eagles offense will decide this one. The Cowboys’ offense is strong, but the Eagles can run the ball against it and Jalen Hurts can move. Dak Prescott could be back for Dallas, but Cooper Rush will play well if not. However, the Eagles at home are the pick.
Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-5)
Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN, FuboTV)
Special Games | Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos
The Chargers return home after winning two straight on the road. They played well on the road, but the defense continues to have issues. The good news is that Denver’s offense is better. Russell Wilson is bad and he has hurt some people. That is important. Justin Herbert gets the best.
