The Ohio University Master of Sports Administration program was named the second best postgraduate sports management degree in the world for 2022 by SportBusiness, a global intelligence service that provides news, analysis, data, advice and events that provide competitive advantage for executives in the sports business.

Founded in 1966, OHIO’s Master of Sports Administration degree is the oldest sports management degree in the world and prepares students for various roles in the sports industry. Students complete a full-time, two-year program that is combined with an MBA program in the College of Business.

The College of Business also offers students opportunities to grow their knowledge and experience in sports administration through the Bachelor of Sports Management program, an online Master of Athletic Administration, as well as professional development through the AECOM Center for Sports Administration Education, which is the first offers – always sports gambling education professional certification. Since the program began more than 55 years ago, nearly 2,000 students have graduated from the Master of Sports Administration program and secured sports administration roles across the country.

The program prefers to keep its class size smaller to ensure a manageable professor to student ratio. There are 10 full-time staff working on the program. The cohort for the next academic year is 35. The program usually sees up to 160 applicants.

The SportBusiness rankings are based on surveys completed by course leaders and alumni of the programs.
