Classification shifted once again.

The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) announced this week that a new classification assignment has been released for winter sports.

While there has been no drastic movement between classes, several Big Bend teams have moved classes, mostly in 1A and 2A. In men’s basketball,

Crossroad Academy has been moved from 2A to 1A. It will play in District 3 District 5 with Madison County, Branford, Hamilton County, Lafayette, and Hilliard.

Aucilla Christian, who has moved all of her sports to the 1A/Rural classification, will play District 2 District 4 in men’s and women’s basketball with Jefferson County, Port St. Joe, Franklin County, and Wewaitchka.

Wakulla Christian has also been transferred to District 1A-2 Region 4, and will only play men’s basketball in that classification.

At 3A, Taylor County has moved from 1A to 3A and will play in District 1 District 2 alongside Trinity Catholic, Bradford, Interlachen (men) and P.K. Young. The Taylor County football team will continue to play at 3A.

Godby has been moved from 5A to 4A and will play in Region 1-District 2 alongside Gadsden County, Wakulla, North Bay Haven and Rutherford. Godby’s football will stay at 4A. Rickards is now the only Big Bend team in 5A.

In football, boys and girls, Lincoln has moved from 6A to 5A and will play in Region 1-District 2 alongside Clay, Columbia, Middleburg, Ridgeview and Rickards. The basketball team remains at 6A.
