The Chargers have some of the top talent in the league on both sides of the ball.

With a great draft and the notable addition of free agency, the Bolts are hoping for special things in 2022.

The team of writers and editors at CBS Sports released the Preseason All-NFL Team, voting on a 53-player list of the top players projected for the 2022 season. The Chargers were well-represented, while all six Bolts made the 53-man roster.

Justin Herbert received the most votes at the quarterback position (seven), narrowly edging out Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes to the top of the list. They expect the young star to take it to the next level and catapult himself into the elite quarterback ranks after his first Pro Bowl appearance last season.

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin wrote:

Everyone is buying Herbert’s laser pocket pass for the Chargers, especially now that he has solid support on both sides of the ball.

Another jump by Herbert would improve the team, but it all starts with the offensive line – a position that also has two names on this roster.

Tackle Rashawn Slater received three votes and was the third-highest ranked tackle. Center Corey Linsley received the most votes at his position with six, and was labeled as the “lynchpin” for the Chargers’ line.

With three players on offense, the Bolts also have the most defensive players on the team. Outside linebacker Joey Bosa and cornerback J.C. Jackson all made the list in their position.

And safety Derwin James, Jr., has been a top vote-getter at his position. Although he is listed as a safety, he is more than that because his ability allows him to move around the field and play in different positions.

James is one of the NFL’s biggest, most effective defenders when healthy, so the Chargers are paying him big money this summer.
