Here are five “losers” from the Auburn vs. Mercer game.
Auburn defeated the Mercer Bears 42-16 on Saturday night thanks to an overtime rally in the third quarter.
The Tigers accomplished what they set out to accomplish. “We’ve got a lot of things to work on – it’s not perfect, and there’s a lot of things we can improve on,” Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin said after the game.
If the Tigers win, and win a lot, why are there losers from the game?

The quarterback room
This can be misunderstood, so let’s break this down to avoid confusion. See the article : Star Wars video games used to be interesting.
TJ Finley opened the game against Mercer, and he did well. 8-of-9 passing, one touchdown. His throws were timely and accurate.
After a hot start, Finley collapsed, finishing 1-of-5 while throwing a couple more, both of which were just bad plays.
Robby Ashford, who went on the fourth play of the game for an 8-yard run, saw some time with the offense during the drive but didn’t start the drive until Finley’s second touchdown early in the third quarter.
Both QBs have had their moments. Bryan Harsin has proven in the past that he can work two quarters, and it looks like that’s what he’ll be trying to do this season.
The reason why we put the room as the loser of the game is because of the way Saturday’s game got away from the fans. Twitter is already sharing its thoughts on the QB competition. Language (unsurprisingly) said at yesterday’s press conference that TJ Finley will continue to be the starter.
The pressure will continue to be applied in the room because of Finley’s two turnovers and the short time Ashford and Finley (presumably) will be in the offense. Fans must learn to trust and support the staff and their decisions until they prove that they cannot be trusted.
Instead of jumping to conclusions about Finley, Ashford, or anything related to the quarterback room, how about we wait and see how it fares against Penn State, and until then, the team’s foundation is good instead of throwing Hatred for the players who did it. not qualified?
These are people. Some of them are still children, no less. Address the stress where the stress lies, but don’t overdo it.
The fanbase’s emotional stability
Hitting the fanbase seems to always be. On the same subject : The 20 Best Video Game Endings of All Time… unstable. Even non-conference games against FCS opponents have to create some controversy, right?
We’re not saying things shouldn’t be discussed, or that there’s always a reasonable opinion about the Tigers. Finley threw two interceptions, and Harsin pulled him (something we haven’t seen an Auburn coach do in a while – take a player out of the game when he’s not playing). However, things tend to get out of hand when the backup quarterback (usually a dual threat) enters the game and plays well.

2016 – John Franklin III (a weaker example, but an example nonetheless)
2017 – Malik Willis (all season)
2018 – Malik Willis/Joey Gatewood (all season)
2021 – TJ Finley vs Georgia State
Considering three of the next four games will likely feature a fair amount of upset, tight end football, the quarterback will continue to be a highlight of each outing in the hearts of a vocal Auburn fanbase.
Still, let’s wait for some more results before jumping to conclusions.

Former Auburn QB Bo Nix was 21 of 37 passing for 173 yards and two interceptions during Oregon’s 49-3 loss to Georgia on Saturday.

Mercer’s points per game average
The Bears have an efficient, diverse offense that will cause problems for many teams in the So-Con. They have explosive players at every level, and should put up some big numbers this season.
However, Auburn’s SEC-caliber defense got the best of the Bears on Saturday.
