SAN DIEGO – Beginning Thursday, Sept. 1, San Diego State Athletics will have new radio when San Diego Sports 760 goes live at 6 a.m. PT, Aztecs radio partner iHeartMedia San Diego announced.

Heard in every corner of San Diego County and beyond, San Diego Sports 760 has a long history of providing unparalleled sports talk and play-by-play in Southern California, initially serving as the flagship home for San Diego State Athletics in 1972. The venerable station also has hosted the Padres as well as NFL broadcasts throughout its illustrious history.

With the opening of SDSU’s state-of-the-art Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley, the legendary Ted Leitner will continue his play-by-play responsibilities for the Aztec football team this season, while Rich Ohrnberger retains his color commentary duties.

Leitner is one of the most recognizable media personalities in San Diego, where he has served as the voice of the Aztecs, Padres and former San Diego Chargers on radio and television. The Oklahoma State graduate has been a part of the San Diego State scene since 1978, including the last two decades with the Aztec football program.

Leitner will also be behind the microphone when the SDSU men’s basketball team opens its 2022-23 campaign later this fall.

Host of the morning show on San Diego Sports 760, which airs weekdays from 6 to 9 p.m. PT, Ohrnberger enters his sixth season as color analyst on the Aztec Radio Network. Ohrnberger played 39 games on the offensive line over five seasons with the NFL’s New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers. As a collegian, Ohrnberger was a two-time All-Big Ten selection at Penn State, earning first-team honors as a senior in 2008.

SDSU football game personalities also feature Mike Costa, who will continue his role as sideline reporter for all Aztec home games, while Jon Schaeffer will host the two-hour pregame show, along with former SDSU wide receiver standout J.R. Tolver. In addition, Schaffer will host the Aztec halftime show and postgame wrap.

Costa, an SDSU alumnus and longtime San Diego sports personality, also worked as a sideline reporter for NFL radio broadcasts.

In 2002, Tolver received third-team All-America honors from the Sporting News and was a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, marking the nation’s top receiver. Additionally, he was a three-time all-Mountain West selection, including first-team honors as a senior in 2002.
