WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – With sports betting legalized in Kansas, questions immediately arose about timing and locations. Last week, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced that legalized betting will begin with a soft launch at noon on Thursday, September 1, followed by a full open on September 8.
On Friday, the Kansas Lottery unveiled approved sports betting platforms starting September 1.
The Kansas Lottery said that each state-operated casino in the state “will be able to offer in-person sports betting and mobile sports betting on up to three platforms or apps.”
He said these partnerships include:
“An in-person bookmaker for this location will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, players are still welcome to visit the casino and place bets via a mobile app while there,” Kansas Lottery explained.

Tribal casinos are also working to align contracts with the State of Kansas for sports betting. These casinos will be allowed to launch as soon as they are ready, the Kansas Lottery explained last week.
Following the August 18 announcement of the start date for legalized sports betting in Kansas, Kelly released the expected economic benefits for the state.
“Legalizing sports betting is a commonsense solution that keeps the Kansans money in Kansas and directs business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants and other entertainment venues,” said Kelly. “I want to thank all our partners for working with us to make this in time for the football season.”
Fans of Wichita’s sports bar Emerson Biggins were excited to hear Friday’s news.
“I’m really excited. I mean it makes games a little more interesting and fun to watch teams you don’t like. So let’s have fun,” said sports fan Jason McGehee.
