MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Athletics, Learfield Amplify, Mountaineer Sports Marketing and UScellular have teamed up to partner on Youth Sports Day 2022 for the upcoming Mountaineer football and men’s basketball seasons. Youth Sports Day is set for Saturday, September 10th against Kansas at 6:00 p.m. This is an initiative to get area kids involved in an exclusive pre-game clinic hosted by the WVU Center for Applied Coaching and Sports Science. “Developing athleticism is important for both athletic performance and lifelong health and well-being,” said Kristen Dieffenbach, director of the center. “It’s important for kids to experience a wide variety of sports and activities to support holistic skill development and fitness. The WVU Center for Applied Coaching and Sports Science is pleased to partner with WVU Athletics to provide youth sports tryouts for kids, which also provides WVU Coaching and Sports Science students an opportunity to share their enthusiasm for sports and knowledge with the community. Admission is open to all kids, family, friends and coaches. Tickets are just $40 per person. The first 500 kids to register will receive a free WVU Youth Sports Day t from UScellular -shirt. This is the third Football Youth Sports Day, which has grown tremendously since its launch in 2019. “We are delighted to be a part of this exciting community event that helps support skill development and promote physical activity,” said Nakeita Stewart, director of sales for UScellular in the Mid-Atlantic region. Pre-game festivities kick off d at 3:30 p.m. At Caperton’s indoor practice center, located directly behind Milano Puskar Stadium, on the south side of the stadium. Registration starts at 15:00.
