NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced the dates and sites of the Olympic sports championships for the 2022-23 academic year, including expanded fields for the volleyball and softball tournaments. Additionally, the BIG EAST has announced that broadcast partner FOX will feature four regular season events on FS1 this fall, in addition to its regular championship coverage. All 22 BIG EAST Championships, including the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments, are Presented by JEEP.   Starting in early September, FS1 will broadcast a non-conference in-state rivalry volleyball match. On Wednesday, Sept. 7, defending BIG EAST Champion Creighton hosts Nebraska at CHI Health Center Omaha at 5 p.m. CT, in what is expected to be a top-25 showdown.   FS1 will continue regular season coverage with a men’s soccer contest between Georgetown and St. John’s at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.   A pair of BIG EAST women’s soccer matches are also scheduled to air on FS1 to close out the month of September. On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m., a rematch of the 2021 BIG EAST title game as St. John’s takes on Georgetown at Maryland SoccerPlex. A week later, Providence will welcome Butler to Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.   Postseason coverage begins on FS1 with a championship doubleheader on Sunday, Nov. 6, with the women’s soccer title game scheduled for 12:30 p.m., before the field hockey championship at 3 p.m. It will mark the first time the BIG EAST field hockey championship game will be nationally televised.   The format of the BIG EAST women’s soccer championship will have the No. 3 seed hosting the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed hosting the No. 5 seed in the first round on Sunday, Oct. 30. The site of the semifinals and championship game will be announced at a later date. The semifinals will take place on Thursday, Nov. 3.

For the first time since 2015, Old Dominion is set to host both rounds of the field hockey championship at L.R.Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va., with the semifinals scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4.   The BIG EAST men’s soccer championship format will be the same as the women’s with the No. 3 seed and No. 4 seed acting as the hosts for the first round, and the semifinals and final site to be determined. First round action will get underway on Saturday, Nov. 5, before the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 10. FOX Sports will cover the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 13; network and start time will be announced at a later date.  

The first round and semifinals of both the men’s and women’s soccer championships, along with the semifinals of the field hockey championship will stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi on FloSports (BEDN). Including all men’s and women’s soccer conference contests, approximately 350 BIG EAST events will stream on FloSports this fall with nearly 600 events for the year.   The volleyball championship returns to D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Neb., hosted by Creighton with a new format. For the first time since realignment, the championship will expand from four to six teams, with the top-two seeds earning a first-round bye. First round action will begin Wednesday, Nov. 23 with the No. 3 seed and No. 6 seed squaring off, along with the No. 4 seed taking on the No. 5 seed. The pair of winners will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 25 and the opening four matchups will stream live on BEDN. The championship game will then air on FS2 on Saturday, Nov. 26. A start time will be announced at a later date.   The cross country championships will be hosted by Providence at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass., on Saturday, Oct. 29. The men’s and women’s races will stream on BEDN.   For the winter, the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships will return to the Nassau Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The championships will take place Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Saturday, Feb. 25. The Indoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by DePaul for the second consecutive year at the Gately Indoor Track & Field complex in Chicago, Ill., on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25. Both championships will stream on BEDN.   The spring championships kick off with the men’s and women’s tennis championships starting Thursday, April 20 and finishing on Sunday, April 23 in Cayce, S.C. at the Cayce Tennis Center. It will be the seventh consecutive year at Cayce. The women’s golf championship will take place simultaneously, Friday, April 21 through April 23. The men’s golf championship follows, going Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. A location will be announced at a later date.   The men’s lacrosse championship will be hosted by Marquette at Valley Fields, Thursday, May 4 and Saturday, May 6. Although the women’s championship has been played in Milwaukee, Wis., it will be the first time the men’s tournament will be hosted by the Golden Eagles. The women’s lacrosse championship will be hosted by Connecticut at the Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7.   The outdoor track & field championships return to Villanova, Pa., for the first time since 2017. Villanova will host the conference meet, which will take place on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13 at Villanova Stadium. It will mark the 24th time the Wildcats will host both the men’s and women’s championships simultaneously. Villanova also hosted the men’s championship in 1981 and 1982.   For the second time in three years, the softball championship is set to return to Burrill Family Field in Storrs, Conn., Wednesday May 10 through Saturday, May 13.
