Railcar project is on track

The factory will manufacture railcars for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, commonly known as Metro.
The new $70 million facility will employ “up to 460 people,” according to an announcement the company released in March.

The site on the east side of Greencastle Pike (Md. 63) and west of the current Halfway Boulevard cul-de-sac.
A construction plan for at least part of the work was released earlier this month, according to county records.
The permit describes a single-story building of 294,240 square meters with a mezzanine of 12,650 square meters on the second level, “to be used as a manufacturing plant for the assembly and testing of railcar vehicles.”
The structure will include seven upper entrance doors and four dock doors.
Sports performance trainer coming to county
True Athlete Performance, also known as True AP, has chosen a location in Washington County for its first fully dedicated location.
A space at 10312 Governor Lane Boulevard in the Bowman Business Park complex is being prepared for the new facility, according to a press release from True AP. To see also : Netflix August 2022 schedule: new TV and movie release dates.
Founded in 2009, True AP currently uses space in sports facilities and sports recreation centers. It will continue to operate at the Chantilly and Purcellville, Virginia locations. The company is based in Chantilly.
The company works with youth, high school, college and professional athletes, as well as active adults “to maximize athletic performance, improve fitness and promote overall wellness,” the statement said.
Individual, semi-private group and team training sessions are available. Training focuses on increasing speed, agility and explosive power, as well as preventing injuries.
Half of the new space will be set aside for a 25-yard grass area suitable for speed, agility and quickness training. The rest of the area will be equipped with a rubber floor weight room.

“Our concept has thrived by partnering with like-minded sports and recreation centers, and we are now ready to invest our time and resources in delivering a state-of-the-art facility that meets the needs of athletes and of the general public. in the western sections of Maryland, as well as West Virginia and southern Pennsylvania,” Josh Daniels, vice president of True AP, said in the statement.
“When looking for the perfect location, our analysis revealed a crowded market in Northern Virginia, but few peer groups in Washington County. We intend to serve the community in many ways with after-school programming, training sessions of weekends, camps and clinics”.
