Text description provided by the architects. Creating an accessible and unified complex was the main goal of the intervention in Colín’s sports hall. The space was very deteriorated but still in use due to the scale of the football field, so the first improvement was to supplement it with a space for bleachers.
The reinforced concrete structure opens on one side to the athletics and football field and on the other it houses a series of commercial buildings that complement these spaces.
A series of green spaces was planned around the complex and since the colony’s sewage system is located in one of the adjacent areas, a wall was designed that separates from this space and completes the range of sports: volleyball , tennis and baseball are other options offered by the sport.
Given its geographical location, the climatic conditions required the creation of shady spaces and improved flooding conditions, so in addition to achieving universal access to the complex, it is complemented by the unification of sidewalks, lighting, green areas and roofs to address these problems .
