There were other preseason predictions for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Big Ten conference. Just before Big Ten Media Days, the 2022 preseason press poll courtesy of Cleveland.com was released.
In the Big Ten East, Ohio State received all 36 first-place votes. Meanwhile, in the Big Ten West, Wisconsin received 31 first-place votes. The Iowa Hawkeyes received the next first-place votes in the West with three, and finished second in the preseason projections.
The Badgers scored 246 points, while the Hawkeyes scored 198. There wasn’t much of a difference between No. 2 and No. 3 as far as fans were concerned between the top two teams in the West, but Minnesota was 36 points behind. last Iowa with 162 total. the third point.
After those three, Purdue had 153 points, Nebraska had 123, Illinois had 65 and Northwestern had 61.
In the East, Michigan was the clear No. 2 with 203 points. After that, Penn State came in third place with 169 points, Michigan State came in fourth place with 162 points, Maryland came in fifth place with 104 points, and Rutgers came in. ranked sixth, with 60 points, while Indiana ranked seventh, with 58 points.
