Joe Davis, the current broadcaster for the Dodgers who succeeded Scully after he retired in 2016, made the announcement, “We lost the greatest that ever did it.”

Baseball players, professional athletes and celebrities shared their grief on social media, along with some of their favorite moments from Scully’s 67-year career behind the mic.

Baseball is better for having Vin Scully as part of its history. One of the best things I will remember to my grave is knowing that I walked into a football game that Vin Scully called. It may be small but it’s a big deal to me. Baseball will miss you Mr. Scully. We will do our best. https://t.co/UAvBbEbKON
