Monumental Sports and Entertainment today announced a new partnership with HeadCount to encourage Washington Capitals, Wizards and Mystics fans to register to vote at home games throughout the year.

During each match at the Capital One Arena and the Entertainment and Sports Arena, there will be a table at the concourse level where representatives will be housed. There, fans will be able to register to vote and participate in season-long contests to win team-branded items.

The new program launches on July 21 in Mystics’ only home game at the Capital One Arena this season.

“Calls to vote came up frequently during the presidential election years – which is understandable. This is the only voting choice every American shares. But in reality, the presidency has a much less impact on the daily lives of citizens than the hyper-local elected officials who are often elected on ‘holidays’” ”President, External Affairs & Chief Administration Officer Monica Dixon said in a statement. “But too many people stay at home during crucial elections that give authority to leaders who dictate environmental and city policies and practices.”

Wizards stars Bradley Beal and Natasha Cloud have been at the forefront of voter awareness in the DC area for the past few seasons. Monumental has made an effort to support the players and their social spirit while playing for their team.

“It’s really about keeping this front and center for our fans. The voting initiative was originally created by Brad Beal and Natasha Cloud two years ago when they were thinking about how to be more involved in the community and bring their fans into the same engagement. , ‘ Dixon told NBC Sports Washington.

The emphasis on voting is prioritized by the organization in 2020. The Mystics – who played their entire season in a bubble in Bradenton, Fl. – sacrifice possession at the start of each game to allow their television broadcasters promote registration to vote.

“We’ve talked about it as an organization, it’s still been one of the priorities for the WNBA players and staff in general over the last few years,” Mystics head coach Mike Thibault said at his pre-match news conference. “And I’m delighted that we can start here, during our season and hopefully over the next few years it will be an important part of what we can contribute to society as far as making people want to have a lot of things. to say one of the ways you say it is through your voice, and I think that, that’s an important thing for us.”

HeadCount’s will manage over 120 games and events between Capital One Arena and Entertainment & Sports Arena throughout the 2022-23 sports season.
