Compass Real Estate’s River Oaks area office is located in this Class A tower, 200 Park Place. Theresa Hill will co-lead about 300 agents at the location.

Luxury real estate firm Compass Real Estate has secured a key new leader for its high-profile River Oaks-area office as the company continues to grow in Houston.

The residential real estate brokerage has hired veteran real estate professional Theresa Hill as a sales manager to help lead 300 agents at its Westheimer office outside River Oaks, the firm announced Thursday.

Hill currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Association of Realtors and most recently came from Greenwood King Properties. With more than 25 years of experience, Hill will help mentor hundreds of agents in Houston alongside Director of Sales Cheri Fama and Houston General Manager Seita Jongebloed.

Theresa Hill joins Compass Real Estate from Greenwood King Properties.

“The Houston real estate market is currently in a constant state of flux. Theresa, with her deep experience and professional credentials, will provide valuable insight as Compass Houston navigates this complex market for the benefit of our clients,” Jongebloed said in an email.

Brokerage is mainly focused on the luxury real estate sector, which like the rest of the housing market, is starting to show signs of slowing down as the pandemic boom subsides. Sales of homes priced above $1 million fell about 2.3 percent in June, the most recent month available, according to data from the Houston Association of Realtors. However, Jongebloed said Compass is still seeing plenty of business, noting last week that the company helped close on the home that was originally listed for sale at $15 million in the River Oaks area.

“There are definitely buyers in the Houston market for luxury and ultra-luxury properties,” Jongebloed said.

Since entering the Houston market in 2018, Compass has grown to serve 900 real estate agents in five offices in the region, including locations in The Heights, The Woodlands, Katy and Memorial, in addition to the Westheimer location.

“The real estate market is changing rapidly, and Compass is at the forefront of that change,” Hill said. “Not only is Compass fast and innovative, it provides all the tools agents need to succeed in an evolving market.”
