Lyrique Quintette, a faculty chamber music performance group in the Department of Music, was recently invited by the World Association of Marching and Show Bands to a residency in Bangkok, Thailand. In July 2022, the quintet gave masterclasses for the participants, judged the solo and chamber music competitions and performed a concert at the awards ceremony. In the middle of their busy schedule, they have to visit the beauty of Bangkok and its incredible culture.

The group, consisting of Ronda Mains, flute; Theresa Delaplain, oboe; Nophachai Cholthitchanta, clarinet; Lia Uribe, bassoon; and Katelyn Halbert, horn, have performed throughout the United States and abroad, including tours of Germany and Canada. Joining the group for the trip to Thailand was Catalina Ortega, a flute instructor in the department that intervened for Ronda Mains.

The members of the quintet are highly acclaimed artists, with a wealth of solo, chamber and orchestral experience, as well as teaching at the university level. They are committed to performing a diverse repertoire and reaching out to underserved communities through education. They have been invited guests at numerous national and international music conferences and festivals and have commissioned and premiered many works by contemporary composers. Formed in 1990, the quintet has maintained an active performance schedule with a regular series of home concerts and frequent guest artist tours. The group is on the Mid-America Arts Alliance roster and the Arkansas Arts Council touring roster.
