One of the best features of YouTube Music is access to a YouTube library of fan covers, live performances recorded by gigs and more. YouTube Music now displays these “Other Performances” directly from Now Playing.
Depending on the song, opening the “Related” tab in the bottom right corner of Now Playing and scrolling next to “You May Like” and “Featured Playlists” reveals a new carousel. (“Similar artists,” “More From,” and “About the artist” continue to complete this page.)
The number of versions appearing on YouTube Music in “Other Performances” varies greatly and appears mainly in the case of famous songs / artists. Both audio and video can appear (as indicated on the rectangular cover).
We see live videos recorded by ordinary people and uploaded to YouTube, remixes, fan covers, acoustic versions, performances by other artists and more. It’s also a good way to increase your discovery of other content and better highlight a streaming service’s key benefit without having to manually use Search or the Home feed.
We are watching other performances today on YouTube Music on Android, iOS (though not on an iPad with the older Now Playing interface) and on the web. It first appeared to some users a month ago, but is now available on a larger scale.
