Students are learning, practicing, and performing on a multitude of instruments, from piano and trumpet, bass and harp, boomwhackers, and ukuleles.

In its 33rd year, the Warren County Summer School of Music returns in person.

There are 88 students this year, fewer than previous in-person schools, but a solid number after two years of the pandemic, according to Principal Denise Pearson.

Along with students in grades five through adults, there are 11 interns and 16 instructors.

The school includes numerous programs focused on music theory, history, and culture.

With the music goes the dance. Offerings for those who want it include: Tap Dance, Jazz Dance, Ballet, Musical Theater Dance, and World Dance.

For those looking for some movement without the need for rhythm, there is yoga.

It’s not just about music and dance.

Art classes include fiber arts, drawing and painting, drawing what the eye sees, metals and music, photography, sculpture and stop motion animation.

The Summer School of Music runs for three weeks and culminates with an open house from 8:10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. m. to 12:10 p.m. m. Friday, July 1 and Pops at the Fountain with the Warren Philharmonic at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30.
