The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce helps you plan the “Sweet & Sunny Citrus” entertains this weekend by sponsoring “Grill Out Night” on Friday night. This is an event open to the entire community designed to introduce you to local businesses while serving food and entertainment. There will also be sales, discounts and door prizes. Grill Out Night runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 12 throughout the Sebastian business area. The best way to participate is to visit the Pelican Porch Visitor Center, on the southeast corner of Main Street and U.S. 1 in Sebastian. The Vero Beach Museum of Art also sets the stage for an unusual party with its “Little Things Party”. The event, which takes place on Saturday evening, includes gallery activities such as “close-up viewings”, making tiny art and playing big games. The fee is $8 in general and is free for museum members and children 17 and under. The Little Things Party runs from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Dr. And while you’re there, don’t forget the two exhibitions currently open: “Simple Pleasures: The Art of Doris Lee,” which runs through September 18; and “Masters in Black and White,” which runs through September 11. Regular working hours of the gallery are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. From Tuesday to Saturday and 1 p.m. until 16:00 on Sunday. The last entrance is 15 minutes before closing. Admission to the galleries during regular hours is $8 general, $7 seniors and free for children under 17.

The First Presbyterian Church Youth String Orchestra will present Folk & Americana concert 4 p.m. Sunday, August 14 in the sanctuary of the church. The award-winning youth orchestra recently performed in the Florida Keys, where they participated in a project to help Crane Point Nature Reserve. While in South Florida, the Youth String Orchestra accompanied by the Youth Choir and the Youth Wind Orchestra & The percussion ensemble performed in the Episcopal Church of St. Andrije in Miami and Sanctuary Church in Fort Lauderdale. The concert will be led by Dr. Jacob Craig, the church’s music director, and will include American folk standards such as “The Entertainer,” “Maple Leaf Rag,” “Orange Blossom Special” and more. It is certain that the concert is designed to get your feet tapping and your hands clapping. The concert is free, but a $10 donation is suggested. Even more music will fill the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach when the Vero Beach Choral Society begins rehearsals next month. The group is currently looking for singers to join them. The group already has concerts scheduled for December and April. Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. September 12. Artistic Director Dr. Jacob Craig has scheduled a performance of “Gloria” for December 13th and 14th. Auditions consist of singers singing a chromatic scale up and down a capella.
