WASHINGTON, July 20, 2022 – MSI Express Inc., a Grand Prairie, Texas facility, is recalling approximately 16,498 pounds of chicken and rice soup mix products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, FSIS ) announced today. The product contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

Uncooked Shelf Stable Thai Style Curry Chicken with Rice Soup Mix was produced on January 19, 2022 and January 31, 2022. The following products are subject to the recall [see labels]:

The products subject to the recall bear the facility number “P-44055” within the USDA inspection mark. These items are distributed in the United States and Canada to professional food service businesses, such as restaurants, cafeterias, fast food chains, and sports stadiums, as well as through online sales.

The problem was discovered when the facility notified FSIS that it had validated allergen testing on ready-to-eat soup. The finished soup was found to have tested positive for dairy, an allergen not declared on the product label, due to the facility receiving an incorrect ingredient component.

There are no confirmed reports of side effects from consuming these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare professional.

FSIS is concerned that some product may end up in the pantries of consumers, restaurants, and food service establishments. Consumers who bought these products are urged not to consume them, and restaurants not to serve them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms have notified their customers of the recall and that steps have been taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
