Grubhub recently made New Yorkers an offer the online food-ordering company hoped many wouldn’t be able to refuse: a free lunch.
A promotion in May that promised people who ordered through Grubhub’s app $15 worth of free food overloaded Grubhub’s system, with as many as 6,000 pickup and delivery orders coming in every minute at the promotion’s peak.
