MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) – A free business development program for women and minority-owned businesses was held in Madisonville on Thursday.

The Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation partnered with the Madisonville Minority Economic Development Council to provide a free 8 A certification class for all women and minorities at the Kentucky Innovation Station in Madisonville.

8 A Business Development Program offers a wide range of assistance to companies that are majority owned by women and / or minorities. Small business owner Brashyia Peyton says events like this can help make connections.

“Well, if you want your business to expand, or your business to succeed, you have to get out there. So events like this really help us do that, and I’m grateful for that, “Peyton said.

Peyton is holding a grand opening of its beauty and fashion store ‘We Clash’ in Madisonville this Sunday.
