According to a report by John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, Amazon’s Prime Video will add an exclusive game on Black Friday to its NFL package, starting with the 2023 season.
Amazon, the largest retailer in the world, is expected to pay in the neighborhood of $100 million for this unique game on Black Friday, one of the biggest sales days in the calendar.
The NFL’s antitrust exemption prohibits the league from airing primetime games on Fridays during November, so in all likelihood it will be an afternoon game.
It has long been speculated that this was on the table for Prime Video. Football Morning in America’s Peter King deduced that the possibility was more likely when Prime Video became a player for NFL rights.

Although it is not official, there has been a strong report that the Big Ten conference has decided which broadcasting entity will be awarded the media rights for its football and basketball games. One of those partners appears to be NBC which also has a partnership with Notre Dame until 2025.
On Wednesday, Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick held a live chat for the school’s alumni association. During that chat, the subject of the recent Big Ten media rights deal came up. He praised Commissioner Kevin Warren and called the strategy of the Big Ten brilliant and added that it is great for college football because it gives the inventory of the networks and now an incentive to produce around. He also said that when the value of the business was announced, it would be “quite amazing” for the conference.
He then discussed how it fits into Notre Dame’s perspective on television media rights.
“But it’s also perfect for Notre Dame,” Swarbrick said. “We need NBC to have more college football to more effectively promote our games and to talk about our games and to have NBC be seen in that light. So it was great for us that they had a big piece of it” .
