Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for its action-thriller Samaritan, starring three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), which is scheduled for worldwide release on August 26.

The film from director Julius Avery (Overlord) follows 13-year-old Sam Cleary (13’s Javon “Wanna” Walton), who suspects that his mysterious and eccentric neighbor Mr. Smith (Stallone) is a legend in plain sight. . Twenty-five years ago, the most powerful guardian of Granite City, Samaria, was said to have died after a fierce warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Many believe that the Samaritan died in the fire, but some in town, like Sam, are hopeful that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to lure his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from destruction.

The feature comes from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Balboa Productions, based on Bragi F. Schut’s script, and also stars Pilou Asbæk (Uncharted), Dascha Polanco (Gordita Chronicles), Moises Arias (Jockey) and others. Stallone and Braden Aftergood produced, with Schut, David Kern, Adam Rosenberg and Guy Riedel serving as executive producers.
