CLARKSVILLE, TN – The nose of Evelyn Damron’s ceramic dog wasn’t quite right, but it only gave the 10-year-old a chance to improvise. And her dog became a mouse.
“I just got over it, and now I just love it,” she said.
Evelyn and her friend, 8-year-old Larissa Capitani, not only loved the work they created during their daily pottery workshop at the Community School of the Arts (CSA) summer art camp, but also loved everything they did at the week-long camp.
They also loved to paint, draw, dance and play games. And after five days of ukulele training, they loved the strumming “I’m Yours” and “Just the Way You Are” for their parents.
“The great thing this week is how interactive it was and how unique it was,” said Evelyn. “It was a real pleasure to be here.”
And a week at a summer art camp overcame normal school work.
“School isn’t the worst thing in the world,” Evelyn said, “but it’s literally not the best thing – under all circumstances.”
