The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, coming to Prime Video in September, now has a trailer. Viewers got their first look at the new fantasy series at Comic-Con International: San Diego. The series is set thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Set in a time of relative peace, it covers the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.

Developed by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the drama stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Tyroe Muhafidin Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman and Sara Zwangobani.

Prime Video revealed more about the upcoming series in a press release.

“Today San Diego transformed into Middle-earth as Prime Video showed its highly anticipated and epic upcoming series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, to a dazzled Hall H audience at San Diego Comic-Con. . The creators of the series and the ensemble cast gathered on the prestigious stage of Hall H, wowing the 6,500 fans who packed the hall of the convention center after camping overnight on the streets of San Diego in hopes of attending the historical event. Their efforts to be part of the series debut at Comic-Con have been rewarded with the presentation of an exclusive trailer and a preview of several scenes from the series, as well as many more surprises only in Hall-H!

In a moment of surprise and delight, The Late Show host – and Tolkien’s superfan – Stephen Colbert was revealed as the panel moderator. He joined the Showrunners J.D. Payne & amp; Patrick McKay, executive producer Lindsey Weber, and 21 ensemble members attended a panel that was among the largest for a single series in San Diego Comic-Con history.

During the epic 90-minute event, the cast and creators interacted with fans in person for the first time, discussing their love for J.R.R. Tolkien’s incredible legendary and the rewarding process of bringing the beloved author’s legendary Second Age to life, from the new and legendary characters of the series to the incredible realms of Middle-earth, including the island of Númenor, which has never been first seen on the screen.

A host of exclusive previews and surprises have been shared with Hall H fans, including the premiere of a brand new trailer from San Diego Comic-Con, introduced by Showrunners Payne & amp; McKay. The thrilling trailer focuses on the much-feared resurgence of evil in Middle-earth and offers a first look at some of the thrilling characters that the heroes of the series will fight.

In a special first moment in Hall H, Emmy® Award-winning composer Bear McCreary, who created the series’ episodic soundtrack, took the stage with a 25-piece orchestra and 16-person choir to gift to the public an exclusive live performance of the highlights of the soundtrack of the unreleased series.
