Netflix has released the first official trailer for the upcoming series The Sandman, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC Comics series that ran from 1989 to 1996. Described as a mix of fantasy and dark fantasy, The Sandman follows the Master of Dreams known as Dream. , Morpheus and other names.
A dream, played by Tom Sturridge, is captured and held prisoner for a hundred years and his imprisonment has a ripple effect throughout the dream world and the waking world. As Toro is freed by mortals, he seeks to restore his former power and establish order. On his journey, Dream will need to follow the sacred magical objects in the world of Dreaming with the help of librarian Lucienne. There they will meet enemies such as Corinth who escaped (Boyd Holbrook) and the demon Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie).
The Netflix series is developed and produced by original writer Neil Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg, and David S. Goyer.
