The Archives of American Art has announced “Between Artists: In Conversation with History,” a six-part series from its podcast ARTiculated: Dispatches from the Archives of American Art. This special series features important intergenerational conversations between artists of today and voices from the past. Each of the six upcoming episodes will be curated by contemporary artists Nanibah Chacon, Maia Cruz Palileo, Mari Hernandez, Carolyn Lazard, Dionne Lee and Lehuauakea. During their sessions, each artist will engage with oral history from the Archives of American Art’s collection and explore the underlying and invisible effects of those interviews on their own work. The first part of the series will be released on July 28 and is titled “Weaving and Making Traditional Art Today: A Balance Between Contemporary and Traditional.” The remaining sections will be opened on the fourth Thursday of each month until December 29.
This series brings together contemporary artists and the history of visual art in the United States, expanding awareness, communication and listening to the spectrum of the American experience.
