The NEA Big Read offers a wide range of titles that reflect many different voices and perspectives, aiming to promote meaningful dialogue, creative responses, and innovative discoveries and collaborations in each community. A major component of this program is a donation program, led by the Arts Midwest, which annually supports local reading programs, each designed to run a single NEA Big Read selection.

Stage Left will be collaborating with The Lepper Library, local school districts, and many other local and regional organizations to provide programs related to The Bear from September 2022 to May 2023. The Bear is a post-apocalyptic story of a father and daughter, the Bear. the last two people on Earth, living off the earth at the foot of the mountain. When the girl finds herself lost and alone, the bear seems to be leading her back home. Themes from The Bear will be tailored to provide exciting experiences for each age group. Other planned events include a kick-off match hosted by Stage Left on the history of the Trinity Playhouse in September, book interviews and programs hosted by The Lepper Library, family-based hits, family paint & amp; sip night, for an open house design for writers’ sessions, a panel discussion, a star-studded evening, and a local art show.
